TOWARDS THE MARK

PROTOCOL

I am most appreciative of the giver of life and Him from whom all blessings flow. To God alone from whom this opportunity was freely given not by merit but through grace.

I am equally sincerely thankful to my constituents and the owners of the mandate I hold. Your love, support, cooperation and prayers are at all times appreciated and cherished. Team Better Deal led by its indefatigable and Digital Director General, Mr. Samuel Ekpenyong is hereby acknowledged for their role and unflinching believe in my person and for their unquantifiable love and support. I cannot fail to acknowledge Akon Volunteer led by Mr. Martins Esin, Friends of Akon Eyakenyi, the women groups and all other support groups, individuals and above all, our dear Party, the biggest party in Africa, the PDP.

Dear constituents, I hold the office of the senator representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District today because you all reposed in me your trust and confidence. I owe it a duty to defend that trust and confidence by giving to all of us in return, effective representation. This entails doing everything possible to better the lives of our fellow constituents. That informs this gathering today.

Education is good but beyond having the certificates, employable skills enhance the chances of success at the market place. Skills possessed by individuals sell better and faster than empty certificates and that’s the new order. Informed by this reality, I have undertaken to initiate this skills acquisition training for our people.

I have engaged the services of a reputable training outfit, Philipco Engineering Services Nigeria to train our people in various areas. This training shall be in phases and shall be carried out across the 3 Federal Constituencies making up Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District. As we finish with this first batch of trainees from Oron Federal Constituency, we shall take up the next batch from Eket Federal Constituency and eventually end up with Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency. This, is indeed a march towards the mark of effective, responsible and responsive representation I promised our people.

Our Governor, HE Deacon Udom Emmanuel has a burning passion to take Akwa Ibom Youths off the streets. He has been at the forefront of training and retraining our youths to make them fit into available opportunities and as well prepare them ahead of emerging opportunities and openings. In support of His Excellency and the Akwa Ibom State Government’s policy direction of helping Akwa Ibom Youths acquire useful skills therefore, I take up this training of our young people with all joy and a great sense of responsibility. The Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning may wish to partner this noble effort for the benefit of our youths.

This is the first set of my intervention in the push to better the lot of our people and engagement of our fellow constituents. I shall in addition to making laws that shall have direct bearing on our people, continuously do all within my reach to ensure that our people are positively impacted.

I remain resolutely committed to my promise to help push for the upgrade of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron to a full-fledged university. I shall do all that is needful to help improve the fortunes of our constituents.

I am grateful to the Chairman of today's occasion, Mr. Samuel Ekpenyong, Special Guest of Honour, Professor Victor Bassey Inoka  - the Honourable Commissioner for Labour and Manpower Planning, the Deputy Speaker AKSHA, Rt. Hon. Princess Felicia Bassey, Rt. Hon. Effiong Bassey, Rt. Hon. Uno Etim Uno, Hon. Orman Esin, Rt. Hon. (Pastor) Anthony Etim and many other dignitaries who have found time to be here today. Thank you all once again. Congratulations to the selected trainees.
